My name is Jordan Popowich and I am a freelance visual artist from Winnipeg, Manitoba. I started this little journey of mine just a few years ago, but it hasn't taken me long to realize what a fantastic place Winnipeg is for emerging artists to live, create, and network. There's alot of great opportunities here in the ever-expanding prairies, and they've led me to some fun and challenging experiences in the last few years.  Everything from independent films and theatre promos, to corporate videos and weddings.  People sometimes ask what I do, or what my niche is, to which I respond - with a question mark.  It's hard to establish myself as just one thing when there's different areas that interest me.  Cinematography, editing, writing, photography, it's all great in it's own way.  There's beauty in all art forms and there's always a story to tell, regardless of the medium. Corny? Perhaps, but it's all too true. Honestly, I'm just grateful to be in the industry that I'm in, and I feel really lucky to call this place home.

I used to draw alot as a child, as many kids do. I liked creating different characters and monsters and forming new worlds on paper.  Gradually my interest in illustration shifted to movie making when I was in high school.  Amateur films for my English class, poorly conceived music videos with friends; It didn't matter what the project was, I was just always anxious to create something new and up my game the next time around. In 2007, I attended Red River College and enrolled in the Digital Multimedia Program. That's where I received the bulk of my technical training and started to appreciate all of the techniques and skills used to make a project stand out. After graduating I immediately got into freelancing and haven't looked back. The freedom and creativity that I have now is great, and almost every project is a learning experience in some way.  I also work with a great company called Nu Frequency, which specializes in music and media services. We've collaborated on alot of projects in the last two years and you'll see some examples of our  work throughout the site.  I don't really have an end goal for myself, or any sort of game plan, so all I can really do at this point is continue to work hard, curse at my computer and hope for the best in unforeseeable future.   So with all this being said, I encourage you to look around, give feedback, and hopefully enjoy some of the work that I've done. Cheers!
